Bad Credit Cards

A few Americans have been under the feeling that Visas are a significant monetary instrument since Mastercards give them influence with their financial assessments and furthermore can make it conceivable to buy and do things they may not in any case have the option to do. Despite the fact that this might be valid for some this isn't generally the situation. Mastercards are unsafe not exclusively to the American people’s funds yet in addition the economy. Visas are the main purpose behind close to home obligation and liquidation in America today in view of next to zero comprehension of financing costs and the incorrect feeling that all is well with the world that possessing numerous cards gives. Most Americans have the longing for an increasingly helpful way of life and Mastercard organizations make it so natural to acquire their cards that it has become a pattern in America for most families to have in any event at least five Visas for each family. The high significance society has put on building up credit has begun to open Americans’ eyes on how charge card use has affected their pockets monetarily just as the pockets of the main three significant credit authorities. Its a well known fact that without charge cards it is practically incomprehensible for Americans to get certain things like saving lodgings, leasing a vehicle and, buying carrier tickets. Americans have been sucked into the arrangements of the Visa organizations. The tops three credit departments, Transunion, Experian and Equifax all exist in view of the prerequisites society puts on creating credit. These departments have the ability to decide how much credit an individual has and if that individual is qualified for get any more credit. Credit agencies decide if an individual gets a vehicle, home, or business advance creation it a need for the American purchaser to accomplish credit height by getting charge cards. In today’s society they are an absolute necessity have. Studies show that the United States family units have gotten roughly 5. billion new Visa offers in 2009. This push from the charge card organizations is constraining Americans to place such a high significance on utilizing Visas that numerous Americans are not halting to peruse and comprehend the agreements that they are marking. The stunning truth is that regardless of whether Americans were setting aside the effort to peruse the agreement, some would in any case not comprehend what the agreement was really saying. On normal the United States charge card understanding is composed at a 12 evaluation level, if it's not too much trouble note that most Americans who get a secondary school recognition read at a ninth grade level despite the fact that they got 12 years of training. The hardest card consent to peruse is from GTE Federal Credit Union. Their agreement is set at 18. 5 understanding level, which is the perusing level likeness somebody who has gone through over six years in school. The Mastercard organizations have such huge numbers of rules and difficult to comprehend terms with their card gets, that most Americans don't set aside the effort to investigate and comprehend the principles; this causes obligation and a lot of it. When the obligation is there the credit agencies are bringing in cash since Americans need to pay to check their FICO rating. Americans today have a powerful urge for the basic way of life; charge cards give them the inclination that they are accomplishing this in view of the simplicity of spending and bogus thoughts of monetary security. The tragic truth is that charge cards are the main source of high obligation and liquidation in America. Indeed, in the event that somebody has great credit and are on time with the installment consistently they pay high intrigue if the full parity isn't forked over the required funds every month, which most Americans can't bear. A few Americans pay the negligible sum every month. This is the credit companies’ greatest disaster. The base installment is an intrigue just installment and doesn't diminish the loan’s head. In the event that they would crunch the numbers they would see that it would take 180 years or more to take care of their charge card obligation. That is a preposterous measure of time. The United States complete spinning obligation is $852. 6 billion as of March 2010, of which 98% is comprised of Visa obligation. The normal Visa obligation per family unit is $15,788. These insights are extremely high. This makes it more obvious how obligation is the main explanation Americans are enduring monetarily. The all out chapter 11 filings in 2009 arrived at 1. million, which is up from the 1. 09 million that was recorded in 2008. Americans are so consumed by the charge cards that an investigation was done in 2006 by the United States Census Bureau that decided there were about 1. 5 billion charge cards being used in America. A pile of every one of those cards would arrive at in excess of 70 miles into space and be nearly as tall as 13 Mount Everest as revealed by the New York Times on February 23, 2009. A significant factor in Mastercard obligation is the punishment charges Americans are getting from card organizations. In 2009 punishment expenses signified be 20. billion dollars as indicated by R. K. Mallet, a specialist to the Mastercard business. Beside the horrible obligation cycle, another issue with charge cards is extortion. In today’s culture, individuals are not finding the genuine neighbors and reliable shippers, found in past ages. Presently Americans have the World Wide Web or Internet, where purchasers can purchase nearly anything they like with a few ticks, and, obviously, a Visa or MasterCard. This rapid Internet has given today’s criminals a fast way to take Mastercard data and transform a 780 financial assessment into a zero in practically no time. In 2009 the quantity of distinguishing proof misrepresentation casualties in the United States rose 12% to 11. 1 million, which is the most elevated level sense the Javelin review started in 2003. This extortion has Americans picking their main dread today not as psychological warfare, wellbeing infections or individual security; it is misrepresentation that they dread and worry about the most. This is negatively affecting Americans and gradually making them mindful that not every person is overall quite trusting. That, however it is executing the economy gradually. Americans are buying less in light of the fact that the dread of falling into obligation or turning into a survivor of extortion is turning into an undeniable situation. In an ongoing report done by Consumer Report Magazine in November 2009 overviews indicated that 21% of purchasers said they were dealt with unjustifiably with charge card organizations and 32% have paid off and shut their records. Half announced the purpose behind dropping the records was the card guarantors climbing up their financing costs and forcing high record expenses. Likewise in the report 45% of all buyers said they are utilizing their cards less on the grounds that they trust the charge card organizations less. A Javelin study acted in 2009 demonstrated charge card use has plunged from 97% in 2007 to 72% in 2008, which is a 25% drop inside longer than a year. This obligation and misrepresentation is negatively affecting Americans and the economy, gradually Americans are buying less on the grounds that the dread of Visa obligation or turning into a casualty of extortion is an undeniable life situation. Americans are beginning to gradually recall and understand that what was once acquired must be taken care of and that in the event that they don't have the money for it, at that point maybe they needn't bother with it.

Oversight and administration abilities - Essay Example An) According to Charles Handy and his inspiration math hypothesis, fruitful execution of any association depends on needs, results and viability (Handy, 1993). The investigation of inspiration analytics is concerned, essentially, with why individuals carry on with a specific goal in mind. Applied to Apple Corporation, inspiration math can be depicted as the course and ingenuity of activity. The requirements' incorporate individual attributes, inner and outside condition, and impacts. It is worried about why individuals pick a specific strategy in inclination to other people, and why they proceed with a picked activity, frequently over a significant stretch, and despite troubles and issues. This sort of correspondence gives extra channels of correspondence and gives a methods for inspiration, for instance, through status, social connection, assortment in routine occupations, and casual techniques for work. As per Handy, results suggest the job of extra endeavors and results. In Apple, extra endeavors help the organization to expand income through consistent streamlining of creation. Convenient relates inspiration to 'mental' rewards, for example, the chance to utilize representatives' capacity, a feeling of challenge and accomplishment, accepting gratefulness, positive acknowledgment, and being treated in a mindful and chivalrous way. The primary issue in Apple is that workers and Executives have a totally extraordinary vision of organization's way of life and atmosphere. In any case, new course proposed by John Scutley was meant to move association from progress period to strength (Gibbs, Beer, 1991). The adequacy implies that the outcomes are accomplished. So as to be compelling Apple attempts to be receptive to outer ecological impacts. Apple works inside a powerful domain and it requires a structure and culture that are delicate and promptly versatile to change. Culture is a main consideration in the propriety of the executives' techniques for inspiration. Notwithstanding courses of action for the completing of hierarchical procedures, the executives has a duty regarding making an atmosphere in which individuals are propelled to work enthusiastically and viably (Handy, 1993). John Adair built up an activity focused initiative methodology which expresses that the adequacy of the pioneer is reliant after gathering three zones of need inside the work gathering. The need to accomplish the basic errand, the requirement for group support, and the individual needs of gathering individuals (Robbins, 2004). The requirements make three covering circles. Sculley tells that We are attempting to comprehend what deals with a little scope that can take a shot at a huge scope. For the most part we have not prevailing here yet (Gibbs, Beer, 1991). In this way, without an express proclamation of methodology it turns out to be increasingly hard for extending associations to accommodate co-ordinated activity with enterprising exertion. In Apple, a feeling of having a place with the association is significant. It is based upon the devotion fundamental to effective mechanical relations. At the point when Apple was a moderately little organization, the feeling of having a place was made by supervisors through guaranteeing that the workforce is: educated, included, partaking in progress. Hotlinks conversation indicated that there was an extraordinary need to execute an adjustment so as to build income objectives. At the point when changes were presented, numerous representatives felt that they: are in a progress now, since we have loads of new individuals. In this manner there is a need to offset structure with level association and

The Tupacs of Literature

The Tupacs of Literature I don’t know if you caught the rather disturbing Tupac hologram at this years Coachella music festival in California, but even more than being kind of morbid, it stretched the already bloated posthumous Tupac industry” to its most shameful limit. Even before he appeared live after-death at Coachella, he had released six posthumous albums. You can make the case that The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory doesn’t count since the album was recorded and mixed in August of 1996, Tupac was killed in September, and the album was released in November. But that still leaves five other albums. And their content amounts to rarities, lost b-sides, demos, and songs that were cut altogether. It’s a sort of licking the cultural plate clean, as morbid as that metaphor is. And it’s a divisive issue among fans. Or at least the fans that would consider themselves hard-core. On the one hand, it’s completely and transparently cynical. In an act of grave robbing, everyone from record to t-shirt companies are exploiting the deceased. Everyone’s making tons of cash off of material that the artist never agreed to release. On the other hand, once the artist is gone, doesn’t all of the work belong to everyone? Aren’t fans entitled to have what they want? Music isn’t the only industry that operates like this. Publishing has produced some of it’s own Tupac’s. David Foster Wallace, for instance, has had a spate of post-death releases. The Pale King, his posthumous novel, got mixed reviews that ran from molten hot appreciation to hardened disapproval. His newest to be released is Both Flesh and Not, essays that hadn’t ever seen book form. Included in the collection will be his famous pieces on the tennis player Federer and the movie Terminator 2. This release should pass the moral muster of detractors of posthumous publication, since all the essays have appeared elsewhere. But this book may be an outlier. It seems like The Great Bandana is trending Tupac. If David Foster Wallace is the American Champion of posthumous publishing, then Roberto Bolaño holds the world title. At least as far as being translated into English is concerned. So far he’s had two novels and a collection of short stories released after his death. And due out in November is his rediscovered novel Woes of the True Police Man. If you’re already a fan of Bolaño, you’ll probably read this novel no matter what it’s about. But if you’re not familiar and need a plot to entice you, it’s a gritty tale about the unsolved murder of a number of women in northern Mexico. It’s a theme Bolaño fans should already be familiar with. And I have to tip my hand and show my cards here. I’m all for publishing as much material by an artist as possible after their death. Maybe I’m just a person of a certain place and time, but I feel our right to have as much art (because that’s what this is really all about) in our lives as possible trumps any claims of privacy that the deceased are entitled to.

Anne Lamotts Shitty First Drafts By Nancy Sommers

After reading, â€Å"Shitty First Drafts† by Anne Lamott and â€Å" Revision Strategies of Student Writers and Experienced Adult Writers† by Nancy Sommers, I couldn’t agree more with their writing process strategies and statements. Sommer, did continuously research on student writers for instance in Paragraph 6, 20 freshman at Boston and Oklahoma University with SAT scores range from 450-600 and dour main revision problems found to be was deletion, substitution, addition and reordering. Students advised Sommers, there term for revision is scratch out, do over again, reviewing, marking out and slashing out as for experienced writers they use a more proper term such as rewriting and revising. A valid point Sommers, points out is that students listen and just take teachers instructions with that being said teachers aren’t making revision a requirements. Students writers use a linear model there teacher provides while experienced writers use all theories and strategies of holistic perspective and recursive process using a

Mothers And Their Newborn Babies Care After Discharge A...

Mothers and Their Newborn Infants Care After Discharge: A Review of Supporting Maternal Transition: Continuity, Coaching, and Control Paulette Dongmo Nanfack Kennesaw State University Overview The postpartum period represents a significant transition in women s lives. This critical period of adjustment is characterized by many physical, emotional, and psychological changes that influence women s experiences, adaptation, health, and wellness. Most stressors in the puerperal period include: the transition to motherhood and associated role change and role stress; and physical stressors such as hormonal changes, change in sleep patterns, and pain. Psychological stressors consist of interpersonal relationship challenges, self-esteem and self-confidence issues, and postpartum depression (Uban, 2012). Today, most hospitals do not give enough time to provide adequate transition between the birth and discharge; mothers delivering in a hospital may leave the hospital as soon as they are medically stable, which can be as early as a few hours postpartum. The average for spontaneous vaginal delivery is one to two days, and the average caesarean section postnatal stay is three to four days (Bryanton, Beck, 2010). During hospital stays, mothers are monitored for physiological functions such as bleeding, bowel, bladder, uterus, and psychological functions such as emotional status, bonding, and newborn care. Unfortunately, after discharge, mothers are leftShow MoreRelatedNursing Essay41677 Words   |  167 Pagespertaining to the health of the public. Why Did Wwii Break Out in 1939 Free Essays

The Second World War started for many reasons but the most important were: the treaty of Versailles and the negative impact it had upon Germany, the foreign policy of Adolf Hitler and what did the other countries do to stop Hitler’s actions. The treaty of Versailles was a very important factor for the break out of war. The treaty took away land from Germany and gave it to Poland, France and Britain. We will write a custom essay sample on Why Did Wwii Break Out in 1939? or any similar topic only for you Order Now This land included the colonies that Germany had in Africa that was given to France and Britain. It made Germany pay huge reparations that left them in a crisis, and Germany was already in a crisis due to the war which made the germans felt it would stop them from recovering. There were a lot of unemployment and whole families suffered from constant hunger. They had to take blame for starting the war and they did not feel it was fair because it was Serbian terrorist groups that trigger it by killing the Archduke Franz Ferdinand. The treaty also ordered the reduction of the German army to only 100,000 men and it limited its navy to six battleships. The Germans didn’t feel this was fair because it meant that they were nearly helpless if someone tried to conquer them and they felt bitter as the other countries didn’t had to disarm. They also had to demilitarize the Rhineland. The Rhineland was the border between France and Germany and it was demilitarized in order to protect Alsace-Lorraine. The big three had different opinions on whether how to punish Germany. Woodrow Wilson (America) thought that Germany should be treated fairly because if it was punished too harshly they would want revenge. America did not suffer as much because of the war due to the fact that the war was not fought in America and they joined the war in 1917 so they did not had such many casualties as the other countries. Lloyd George wanted also a fair settlement but the British people, as Georges Clemenceau (France), wanted revenge because all of the soldiers killed in battle and all of the harm they had done to their country. The Germans became vengeful because overall they did not see fair the treaty of Versailles and the sate it had left the country and they had their revenge with the war. The second factor was Adolf Hitler’s foreign policy. Hitler wanted to make Germany a big and powerful country so he could have revenge of the other countries because of the treaty. He started to get back all of the things that the treaty had took from Germany, starting with the joining of Germany and Austria. Hitler sent his troops and made the Austrians hold a vote to join Germany to Austria. The Nazis rigged the vote so that 99% of the Austrians voted for unification. I think that he wanted to unite with Austria because Austrians had German blood so they were part of the Master race, he also wanted Germany to be big and powerful and with Austria he would have more territory and there would be more people working for Germany and it’s army. Then he demanded the Sudetenland region of Austria back to Germany because there were 3 million German people living there and also the Sudetenland had good farming areas and also a lot of raw materials and industries. This meant that there would be more food for German people and its army, the raw materials and the industries could be used for the air force and navy for the German army. After invading the Sudetenland, the German troops invaded the rest of Czechoslovakia. I think Hitler invaded the rest of Czechoslovakia to have a better chance against the USSR and also to make easier the invasion of Poland by having more land around it. Hitler then made a non-aggression pact with Stalin, they agreed not to fight each other and to share Poland between them. Hitler wanted the land of the Polish Corridor back to Germany because it had cut Germany in two and many German people lived there. But Poland refused to give back the lands because it would mean that they would lose the only access they had to the sea. Hitler invaded Poland so he could have back that land and to expand its territories. More land meant more men in the army and more space to oppose the USSR. And the last of the most important factors of the breakout of the war was the fact that other countries only reacted and decided to fight back when Hitler conquered Poland. When Hitler began to rearm Germany they didn’t do nothing because they were more worried of the communist invasion and they thought that a stronger Germany could protect Europe from the USSR. Then, when Hitler rearmed the Rhineland they did not do anything because they thought that it was reasonable for Germany to have troops in their own territories, I think that the other countries weren’t as bothered with the treaty as they were in 1919. When Hitler United with Austria and the Austrian leader asked for help Britain, France and Italy didn’t do wanted was peace. In 1938, Britain and France made an agreement with Hitler saying that he could have the Sudetenland back if he didn’t took the rest of Czechoslovakia. They were so centered on maintaining peace that they didn’t even talked to the Czechs of this. But when Hitler broke this agreement they didn’t help Czechoslovakia because they wanted to evade war by any means and they promised Poland that if they were attacked by Hitler’s army they would help them. They began to prepare for war because they knew that if Hitler continued his invasions then Poland would go next. When Hitler invaded Poland, England and France declared war on Germany but they did not send any troops to help Poland as they had promised because they thought it was too late for Poland. On my opinion, if the other countries had decided to act earlier when Hitler was beginning to expand they would have been able to evade war because he was not powerful enough. I think that if they had actually tried to stop war they would have actually done something because it was very obvious that Hitler wanted revenge and he would do more than reversing the treaty of Versailles. If they had done something things could have been very different to what they are now. There wouldn’t have been so many deaths from soldiers and citizens from the cities, and also whole cities would not have been devastated by the bombs. Also there would not have been as many victims from the holocaust were thousands of Jews died in the concentration camps. In conclusion, the other countries could have prevented the WWII from happening easily by acting when Hitler was weaker. How to cite Why Did Wwii Break Out in 1939?, Essay examples

The Evolution of Game Consoles free essay sample

Game consoles have become part of our culture, some people do not know it yet, but in some way they are gamers. In the beginning there was Ralph H. Baer, â€Å"The Father of Video Games†, and he created the â€Å"Brown Box† in 1968. Now the Brown Box was a working prototype. It was the first game console that could connect to ordinary television sets. It could play six very simple games, four of them very similar, which are ping-pong, tennis, handball, and volleyball, and the last two are chase game and a light gun game. Now this brown box is essential to what will happen in the future. First generation of game consoles, now Ralph Baer took his brown box to Magnavox. Right away Magnavox bought it. They change the name and design of the brown box and called it Magnavox Odyssey, and released it in 1972 predating it before Atari’s Pong. It was the 1st official home entertainment system. Now, like the first movies, it did not incorporate sound. It was battery operated, it used cartridges for the built in game to change desired effects, and it came with two overlays to simulate color. This console sparked a fire for the video game industry. In 1975 Atari released Pong, which was scaled down unit of their famous Pong arcade machine in 1973. It included on screen scoring and it included sound when the ball hit the paddle. Now there was competition, so Magnavox released two more consoles the Odyssey 100 and 200. The Odyssey 200 incorporated 2-4 players, when no home console had at that time. Then in 1976 Atari released Super Pong, it had color, built in speaker, and it had 4 built in games. So Odyssey put out three more that year, the Magnavox Odyssey 300, 400, and 500. The Odyssey 500, instead of sticks as paddles, it actually had the igure of the sport you were playing, tennis player, hockey player, and squash player. There were a lot of Pong clones that were being made for a home video console. Some listed are Coleco Telestar, Fairchild Channel F, RCA Studio II, and Wonder Wizard 7702. Now there where such an abundance of Pong clones, that a lot of manufactures were forced to closed, leaving a lawsuit between Magnavox a nd Atari for stealing the Pong idea. Magnavox won, and is now receiving royalties from anyone that used that Pong program. The Second generation of game consoles starts with Atari. They released the Atari Video Computer System (VCS) in 1977. This was a huge step in the video consoles, because Atari made detachable controllers and the first game console to use plug in cartridges. It was slow to sell at first, but when Atari bought the licensing of Space Invaders, it sky rocketed in sales. Magnavox still holding on to the Pong craze put out three new Odysseys, the 2000, the 3000, and the 4000. Odyssey 3000 had detachable controllers. The Odyssey 4000 then included color. Then in 1978, Magnavox released the Odyssey 2, this was sort of small computer which you could do basic programming. It came with a built in keyboard plus joysticks and it used cartridges. Also, trying to take off Atari from their throne, Mattel made the Intellivision. This bad boy was better than the Atari VCS. It had better graphics, color and sound, and plus it was the first game console to use in game voice. But, the one thing they were pushing was that you can play games and do your checking. They were going to incorporate a keyboard. But it never happened due to the keyboard being way expensive. In 1982, Vectrex was released. This was the only game console, even now, that came with a monitor integrated with the console. The Atari 5200 was the comeback to beat the Mattel Intellivision. Atari 5200 was the best in it time to be superior in technology and cost. It was the first to have 4 ports for controllers and the first TV switch, to switch between TV and with the game was turned on. Its competition was the Colecovision and Mattel Intellivision II. A few more consoles from other manufactures were still being made like, Coleco Telestar Alpha, Combat, Colortron, Arcade, and Gemini, and Atari Stunt Cycle, Video Pinball and 400, Bally Professional Arcade, Zircon Channel F System II, and the Emerson Arcadia 2001. Since there were so many game consoles to choose from, many games were being made in a hurry, giving the consumer horrible made games. Two infamous games were E. T. the Extraterrestrial and Pac-man for the Atari, which lead to a crash in the video game industry. Many companies went into bankruptcy, which end the 2nd generation of game consoles. The Third generation of games started with the very famous company Nintendo. The video game crash was so severe, that distributors did not want to mess with video games. The Nintendo Company did step up to the plate to revitalize the gaming industry in 1985. First, Nintendo did have a strict licensing policy that encourages only high quality third party game development. Nintendo knew that because of poor quality games the video game industry crashed. They introduced us to Super Mario Bros. , and The Legend of Zelda, Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid. Nintendo dominated the 3rd generation of game consoles. Sega wanted some of the action in North America, so they released Sega Master System in 1986. It was somewhat superior to Nintendo, with better graphics and sound. One difference that Sega had was to type of cartridges, a high and low quality game. If you wanted better detail get the high quality and if you did not want to spend much get the low quality. Atari came out with Atari Jr. and 7800. Jr. appealed to younger gamers and 7800 was the first game console what was backwards compatible. This was the age of the 8-bit processor wars. The fourth generation of game consoles, came in 1989 when NEC made their console with 16 bits, it was called Turbo Grafx 16. This console was the first to support a CD-Rom Drive with allowed for better sound and graphics which could include full motion video. Even though Sega Master System was better than Nintendo, it was not too well received with many American consumers. Also in 1989, Sega released their next game console called Genesis, which also contained 16 bits. It did fairly well with consumers because of arcade game conversions. In 1990 SNK was having a huge success with their arcade games because of their graphics processors. The owner wanted to bring the arcade to peoples’ homes, so they released SNK Neo-Geo. It had the same capability of their arcade machines, so the price on this game console was $650 and a game would cost at least $200. It did not do to well. Nintendo was two years behind with 16 bits processor, but in 1991 Nintendo released Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES). Because of its late start, Sega Genesis was beating Super NES in sales, but Nintendo caught up and eventually took over as leader in the 16-bit era. Fifth Generation game consoles contain 32 and 64 bits processor. Since, Sega came over to North America they have wanted to beat Nintendo, so they released Sega CD for Genesis in 1992. And it was all downhill from there for Sega and its popularity. Sega put out three new products in 1994 Genesis 2, which was the same as the first, Sega CD for Genesis 2, which played audio CDs and games, and the 32X, which was said to enhance the game but it did not. These products were so confusing to the consumers that they did not know why Sega was producing because they knew the following year 1995; Sega released the Sega Saturn which had a 32 bit processor. Sega released it four months earlier than intended which failed to sell because there were hardly any games on the launch date. Now in jumps Sony’s Playstation in the year 1995. Nintendo asked Sony to make a CD-ROM add-on for the SNES and Nintendo wanted to name it â€Å"Playstation†. Sony was willing but requested 25% from the profits it made. Nintendo decided to go to Phillips. Sony then decided to make the Playstation themselves. Nintendo took them to court for stealing their name, but lost. Sony Playstation was a 32-bit processor. And Sony did have a successful launch. Nintendo, instead of making a 32-bit processor console, went straight to a 64-bit processor called the Nintendo 64, which was released in 1996. This was a huge success, giving us games like Super Mario 64, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and GoldenEye 007. It redefined 3D games and first person shooter games. With all the success it was receiving there was come cons, since Nintendo was still using cartridges for games instead of CDs which held a lot more information to make games, some of their game developers strayed away to Nintendo’s competitors. The Nintendo 64 was the last game console to use cartridges. Nintendo also introduced a rumble pak that was integrated into controller to feel vibrations of the game. They intro Others mentionable are NEC TurboDuo, which also played audio CDs, Panasonic 3DO Interactive, which promised too much and failed to deliver, and Atari Jaguar. The Jaguar supposed to turn the game console industry, because it boasted of playing 64-bits in the 16-bit era. Nonetheless Atari failed to take over and stopped making game consoles and became a game developer. In the sixth generation came in the year 1998, when Sega released the Dreamcast. It was the first console to have a modem built in to support online play. And it did do fairly well at launch. The reason why it did not do too well was that it could not compensate for the consumers wanting the console. They had made less than expected and the consumers where well to excited for the release of the Sony Playstation 2. Sony release the it in the year 2000. This became the best selling console of all time. The Playstation included backward capability, it played audio CDs and DVDs, and it had internet support, strong games titles, and rumble pak in the controllers. This was a hard item to find anywhere. It also beat the Sega Dreamcast in to submission, forcing Sega to stop making consoles and become a game developer. Sony gain dominancy as the number one home entertainment system. In 2001, Nintendo released the Gamecube, major advancement in graphics from the Nintendo 64, but did not compare to Sony Playstation. Nintendo’s first time using CDs, but they where 8 centimeters in diameter and it read the CD out to in to prevent piracy. Nintendo was label a â€Å"kiddie console† due to the lack of game developers to make games for them. Also in 2001, Microsoft having the computer technology wanted to try a go with the video game industry and released the Xbox. It used Sega Dreamcast idea and the Xbox allowed gamers to play each other online via broadband. It would also allow the gamers to download content to their console. Even though it had the same capabilities of Sony Playstation 2 and a better processor, it could not beat Sony in Sales. Microsoft did push the Nintendo to 3rd place in the console market. The last generation for now is the 7th, with Nintendo Wii, Sony Playstation 3, and Microsoft Xbox 360. The Xbox 360 was released in 2005, a better console design, feature wireless controllers, better graphics, customizable faceplate, and USB ports to connect mp3 players or external hard drives, and etc. It also redesigned their online experience called Xbox Live. Xbox 360 games where being made in high definition and it was backwards compatible with the original Xbox games. A year later in 2006 Sony released the Playstation 3. This had a slightly better graphics than the Xbox 360, wireless controllers which in included a motion gyro, and USB ports for electronic devices. It did have some problems with backward compatibility, so it worked for some games. One thing that differed from the Xbox 360 was that the Playstation 3 was capable of playing Blu-ray Discs. Now the Xbox 360 could play DVDs, but later they made an add-on which connected to a HD DVD player. Now there was a war between the two movie console, to be HD DVD or Blu-ray. But in the end Blu-ray won, and Microsoft was left with a useless add-on and discontinued it. The Nintendo Wii was also released in 2006. Many were skeptical about Nintendo’s next console, because it could not compare to the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 graphically. Nintendo saw an opportunity to connect with the casual gamer and made a revolution with Wii motion. This allowed the gamer so â€Å"get off the couch† and interact with the game. With this new idea, Nintendo appealed to all ages. The Wii was slightly better in graphics from the GameCube. It was backwards compatible and it featured the wireless controller called the Wiimote, which was use for the interacting with the game. You could create an avatar and use the internet browser and download old games from previous Nintendo consoles. Now Microsoft and Sony saw what Nintendo was doing and wanted to cash in that area too, to appeal to the casual gamer. Microsoft made the Kinect which did not require a controller to interact; it used the person’s body as the controller. Sony made the Move which was a combination of the Wii motion and the Kinect; it did use a controller but used the body as well. Nintendo might need to do something to stay strong in the console industry. And thus game consoles have evolved to certain perfection. And console industry does not look like it is slowing down. It is a continuous evolution that cannot be stopped. Until the day game consoles evolve to the holodeck from Star Trek, there will be new advances and evolution to this market.

John Adams- On the Transmigration of Souls free essay sample

For many, attending a performance of John Addams new piece â€Å"On the Transmigration of Souls† written for the New York Philharmonic is like being invited to a party but being given the wrong address as a cruel prank. Early on, one realizes a mistake has been made, one grave enough to potentially ruin the entire evening. All is not lost on this musical experiment, however, which presents itself as a rambling, rather over-zealous source of mockery. What makes it all so frustrating is that everything (save for the music) is perfect: the elegant setting of the auditorium, the acoustics, the warm tonal qualities of the instruments, and the pristine pitch of the Oregon Symphony Choir. The piece, an orchestral homage to September 11, is intriguing in its nature but fails to lift itself from its initial melodramatics, languishing instead in its pretentious and overtly-modern filth. The precision of the symphony is undeniably honed, and although executed marvelously, â€Å"Transmigration† simply looms over ones head, like a pinata which spills forth Brussel sprouts instead of candy. We will write a custom essay sample on John Adams On the Transmigration of Souls or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page If â€Å"On the Transmigration of Souls† teaches us anything, it is to find the humor in any scenario, no matter how disappointing; although this joke is on us, we are all afforded a hearty laugh in retrospect.

Democracy in egypt and libya Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words

Democracy in egypt and libya - Essay Example It is estimated that Hosni Mobarak accumulated about US$40 billion through corruption (Kassem, 2004). Many demonstrators suffered injuries during their protests at Tahrir Square specially. Strong Egyptian army was present in the streets but army chief promised security to his own countrymen. Finally Hosni Mobarak changed his stance and left the presidency. Therefore, people of Egypt finally managed to get rid of a dictator and live their lives as per their own will. Unrest in Middle East spread to Bahrain, Iraq, Iran, Yemen and now Libya is under fire. Now the world is focusing on the unrest in Libya. Anti government protesters have shown a lot of aggression against the Qadhafi’s government and are continuously exerting the pressure to topple Qadhafi’s government. Protestors set fire to the parliament building in Tripoli, seriously challenging the Qadhafi’s rule (Saikal and Schnabel, 2003). Libya is one of the largest oil producers in the region. Libya almost pro duces more than 1.6 million barrels of oil per day. Unrest in Libya can seriously affect the oil prices and global economy also. Unrest in Libya caused death of thousands of people (Pratt, 2007). Qadhafi’s ordered agencies to open fire on the protester that resulted in death of thousands of citizens. Libya is unable to provide protection to their own people. Egypt witnessed the largest protests in last few months. Protestors demanded the resignation of President Hosni Mobarak who ruled the country for more than 30 years (Saikal and Schnabel, 2003). Tahrir square of the capital was the main gathering point for protests. Protesters were not agreed on any incentive less then resignation of the president Hosni Mobarak. This stance of protesters was clear to Mobarak but even than he refused to quit before the elections of coming September. After seeing the state of turmoil in the country, complete cabinet was changed and new ministers were announced but public said that they would only be satisfied when president Mobarak resigns. Tens of thousands of protesters continuously demanded for an end to corruption, deprivation and lawlessness in the country (Kassem, 2004). Army was employed in the streets of Cairo with heavy tanks and other weapon systems. Army allowed protestors to continue protests against the government as this was their legal right. Hosni Mobarak addressed the nation on television before the million march and delivered very inflammatory speech and also pledged reforms in different parts of life (Kassem, 2004). However, on the next day more than a million people again took part in the protests and demanded resignation of Mobarak. This was the first time when people of the Muslim nations stood for their rights of self determination against a dictator who ruined the life of people through corruption and cruelty. Success of protests and end of Mobarak rule in Egypt is most likely to encourage people of other Muslim nations in mid east to take darin g steps against their rulers. Increasing numbers of demonstrations in Egypt cause many injuries to people but deaths were surprisingly very less (Pratt, 2007). Army did not take stern actions against the demonstrators. Army chief denied the use of force against its own citizens. This act of army really gave confidence to people to take active part in the protests and express their views about the government. There were incidents of throwing acid and stones on the protesters at

Exercise for Alzheimers Paper Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words

Exercise for Alzheimers Paper - Assignment Example Early diagnosis also allows for treatments that slow its progression. (Dwyer) Since there is no cure an early diagnosis can help alleviate at least some of the symptoms. Before I began my research on Alzheimer’s disease I believed that it was primarily caused by a family history of the condition as well as age. Age is a primary risk factor, However there is evidence only about 10% of cases result from gene mutations. (Insel & Roth) †¦Ã¢â‚¬ ¦ â€Å"family history may be consistent with autosomal dominant, familial, or sporadic AD.† (Goldman et. al) This uncertainty about what exactly causes Alzheimer’s disease, as well as the fact that an increasing number of people have the disease due to the aging baby boom population are two reasons why it is important to recognize symptoms earlier and get tested for it. Alzheimer’s disease is a very complex condition that correlates with other conditions. For example there is evidence that indicates that a decreased ability of walking correlates with cognitive impairment. (Belluck) Some symptoms of AD are similar to symptoms of other diseases. For example the symptoms of depressio n are seen in Alzheimer’s disease and other conditions such as Crohn’s Disease, Hypoglycemia, Multiple Sclerosis and Seizure Disorders. Another example would be the symptom of hallucinations, which are also seen in alcoholism, brain cancer and hypothermia. (Conditions with Similar Symptoms as: Alzheimers Disease)Because of the similarities of symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease with other conditions more people need to be aware of the importance of early detection. Research needs to be done on new procedures to simplify the process. This should include greater awareness of the importance of genetic testing for the condition. Recent research has indicated that most people would prefer to have advanced

Suitable Network To Implement In Gaming Centre Computer Science Essay

Suitable Network To Implement In Gaming Centre Computer Science Essay In this documentation, is going to propose a suitable network to implement in gaming centre. In order to select the right network, it is necessary to have understanding and knowledge on various types of network, to know the efficiency and reliability of the network, various types of game and requirement, network topology and architecture, ISP package selection, network component. Follow by types of game that going to provide to the customer, by providing several example of games requirement for making decision on different types of hardware and software to use in gaming centre. The game requirement is an important role that allows gaming centre to choose the suitable hardware for the computer in the gaming centre in order to achieve customer satisfaction. In order to allow customer to play online and LAN games with lowest connection latency, the selection of network topology and architecture is important. Due to the gaming centre is going to implement 30 gaming computer for the customer, the right topology and architecture allow customer to play online and LAN game smoothly. To play an online game with smooth connection, it is required to have good bandwidth of connection speed. Therefore, choosing the suitable package among other Internet Service Provider will be based on the connection speed. To build a complete and working network for the gaming centre, the major component of network cannot be missed out, which is computer, software, network interface device, and transmission media. Each of the components has different responsibility in order for a network to be complete. With the help of research on Internet, the model of device and type of application is recommended base on the specification of the hardware and software. However, these hardware and software may request to change by gaming centre after or before the implementation based on their justification. Assumption Below is some of the assumption of the gaming centre and network that going to implement:- The gaming centre will be providing high-end game to customer. Customers allow playing offline, online, and LAN games in the gaming centre. The gaming centre is capable of hosting tournament for different types of online and LAN games. The computer specification is sufficient enough for most of the high-end game. The connection bandwidth is capable to handle up to 35 computers in the gaming centre. The network topology, architecture and device recommended able to achieve the terms of scalability and flexibility for the gaming centre to expanding the business in future. Limitation There is some of limitation of the network that may require specialist or admin with relevant knowledge to solve the problem. These limitations may require paying extra attention by admin in order to minimize the lost that cause by it. The particular networks fail if the centralized device is encountering a problem. This may affect all computers that connected to the device. The network congestion problem occur when huge numbers of users trying to access the server to obtain the resource from the server. When the server is down or damage, it unable to handle and provide result of request by the customer such as starting a game. 1.0 Chapter 1 1.1 Introduction Wendell Odom (2004, pg.5) states that Network, a combination of hardware, software, and cabling, which together allow multiple computing devices to communicate with each other. In general, network basically means that numbers of computer being attached together in order to communicate and sharing information using cable. However, without proper configuration and supported software, communication and sharing information activities cant perform accordingly. Picture below shows the example of a network. Figure 1.1 Computer Network (http://www.home-network-help.com/wireless-router-as-access-point.html, n.d.) In order to create a successful network, it should consist of several parts, which is computer, software, network interface device, and transmission medium. Without any of the important part mention above, it will not call as a network. Computer is electronic devices that allow users to perform certain task easily compare to perform manually. Software is an application that helps computer to perform most of the task. Network interface device is referring to the device that uses to connect the computer with the internet, example modem, switch, router, and hub. Transmission medium is cable that connects the network interface device with the computer, as well as connects to the internet. People nowadays know that advantage of network is to share resources and information in shortest time and different geographical location. It helps to evaluate the travel time from one location to another location. Moreover, network also helps increased cost efficiency, this is refer to most of the software are published are costly and required certain amount of time to install. With the help of network, they can stored or install the software on a server so that it can be used by different workstation. In the gaming centre, it allow customer to access to the game play online or LAN games with players within or outside the gaming centre. 1.2 Type of Network 1.2.1 Wide Area Network (WAN) The gaming centre will be implementing the Wide Area Network, which is a combination of multiple Local Area Networks to allow customer to play online game as well as LAN game at the same time. Example of the WAN is Internet. It combines all the LAN that connected to the internet which allows users to communicate and sharing resource within the LAN or other LAN that connected to the Internet. Figure 1.2 WAN (http://wally.cs.iupui.edu/n241_06/files/webMag/index.html, n.d) The reason of having WAN for the gaming centre is due to the wide coverage of the network. The only resource needed for the gaming centre to implement is LAN that can access to the Internet, then it is automatically becomes part of the WAN. 2.0 Chapter 2 2.1 Computer Game Mark Stanfield and Thomas Connolly (2008, pg.25) states that The definition of computer games combines the more comprehensive concept of game with the use of computer. The game concept represents a structured or semi-structured activity with goal that players try to achieve and set of rules governing its operation. Base on the definition, game is referring to a well planned structure that consists of objective for anyone that plays it. However, player is required to understand and obey the rules and regulation of the specific in order to achieve the objective and gain achievement. Meanwhile, computer game is mean by the game can only be played using electronic devices which is computer. That the beginning of computer games, there is only offline game available and it required lesser disk space compare to computer games nowadays. Until today, there is plenty type of computer game on the market, such as online games, offline games, LAN games which is local area network games, and every type of computer games had been classified into different categories, for example RPG, FPS, RTS and many more. Offline games is referring to any games that can play by single player and unable to connect through the network and play with other players that playing the same game. An online game is referring to any type of game that can play using Internet and play or compete against other player. Lastly, LAN games is referring to any types of game that can played with other players within the certain area whereby users computer is connected to a same network. However, there are many games that can allow single player as well as multiplayer. Every game had its own requirement in order for player to play the games without any foreseen problem, the requirement divided into different categories, such as type operating system, processor, and type of graphic card, numbers GB of RAM, hard disk space, and also DirectX version. However, there is minimum requirement and recommended requirement which allow player to know that the specific game is suitable to play on their computer or not. Minimum requirement is to allow users to run and play the game in a normal performance and loading speed. As for recommended requirement, users able to run and play the game smoother in terms of performance and higher loading speed. As a LAN gaming centre, it is necessary to have various type of games provided to customer according to their favourite, and to satisfied the customer, there is certain level of knowing the games requirement and specification so that the centre able to choose the right hardware and software for the computer in the centre. By taking some example of the games requirement, it should be able to help in choosing the proper gadget for the computer. 2.2 Types of Game The game chosen to review the game requirement and use it as a reference for selecting the suitable hardware and software for the computer, Starcraft II, Warcraft 3, Counter-Strike: Source, Sudden Attack SEA, and Devil May Cry 4. The example of game chosen included online games, offline games, and LAN games. Online game example for this documentation is Sudden Attack SEA, which is first person shooting game and can only be played while connected with internet. Offline game is Devil May Cry 4 which is role playing game only for single player. Lastly LAN game, the example of game chosen is Starcraft 2 and Warcraft 3, a real time strategy game, and Counter-Strike: Source is a first person shooting game. These three games can be played with other player while connected to the network. However, it can be consider as offline, online game as well, due to these game are able to play with single player or connected to internet and play with or compete against other player. 2.3 Games Requirement Figure 2.1 Sudden attack SEA (online) (http://www.gx.com.sg/Blog/Blog.aspx?id=7ab57b16-fa13-4f2a-a937-0fb14368fec3, n.d) System Minimum Requirement Recommended Requirement CPU Intel Pentium 4 1.8GHz or above AMD Athlon XP2100 or above Intel Core 2 Duo or above AMD Athlon 64 X2 or above Memory 1GB or above 2GB or above (Win Vista/7) 2GB or above 4GB or above (Win Vista/7) Video Card 128MB or above 256MB or above Microsoft DirectX 9.0c compatible Graphic Card Operating System Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7 DirectX Microsoft DirectX 9.0c or above Hard Disk Space 3GB free space after game installation Table 2.1 Sudden Attack requirement (http://suddenattack.asiasoftsea.net/04-download/04-download_01_01.aspx, n.d) Figure 2.2 Devil May Cry 4 (offline) (http://cineclubecovilha.com/torrent/torrent/Devil-May-Cry-4-DVDDL-Full-PC-Gamedaa/2905/0.html, n.d) System Minimum Requirement Recommended Requirement CPU Intel Pentium 4 processor or better Intel Core 2 Duo processor or better Memory 512MB 1GB Video Card NVIDIA GeForce 6600 series or better NVIDIA GeForce 8600 series or better Operating System Windows XP service pack 2 Window Vista Hard Disk Space 8GB Drive DVD-ROM Drive Table 2.2 Devil May Cry 4 requirement (http://devilmaycry.org/243/devil-may-cry-4-pc-system-requirements.html, n.d) Figure 2.3 Starcraft II (LAN/Online/Offline) (http://www.keys4.me/starcraft-2-ii-wings-of-liberty-eu-cd-key-pc.html, n.d) For Windows OS System Minimum Requirement Recommended Requirement Operating System Window XP/Vista/7 (latest service pack) Window Vista/7 CPU 2.6GHz Pentium IV or equivalent AMD Athlon processor Dual Core 2.4GHz processor Graphic Card 128MB PCIe NVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT or ATI Radeon 9800 PRO or better 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX or ATI Radeon HD 3870 or better RAM 1GB (1.5GB for Window Vista/7) 2GB Hard Disk Space 12GB Others (hardware) Keyboard/mouse, Internet Connection Resolution Minimum 1024720 display resolution DirectX DirectX 9.0c Table 2.3 Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty requirement (for Windows) (http://us.blizzard.com/support/article.xml?articleId=26242locale=en_US, n.d) For Mac System Minimum Requirement Recommended Requirement Operating System Mac OS X 10.5.8, 10.6.2 or newer Mac OS X 10.6.5 or newer CPU Intel Processor Intel Core 2 Duo processor Graphic Card NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT or ATI Radeon X1600 or better NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT or ATI Radeon HD 4670 or better RAM 2GB 4GB Hard Disk Space 12GB Others (hardware) Keyboard/mouse, Internet Connection Resolution Minimum 1024720 display resolution Table 2.4 Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty requirement (for Mac) (http://us.blizzard.com/support/article.xml?articleId=26242locale=en_US, n.d) Figure 2.4 Counter-Strike: Source (LAN/Online/Offline) (http://www.moddb.com/games/counter-strike-source, n.d) For Windows System Minimum Requirement Recommended Requirement CPU 1.7GHz processor Pentium 4 processor (3.0GHz or better) RAM 512MB 1GB Graphic Card DirectX 8.1 level graphic card (Requires support for SSE) DirectX 9 level graphic card Operating System Windows 7 (32/64-bit) / Vista / XP DirectX DirectX 8.1 or above DirectX 9 or above Table 2.5 Counter-Strike: Source requirement (for Windows) (http://store.steampowered.com/app/240, n.d) For Mac System Minimum Requirement Operating System OS X version Leopard 10.5.8 Snow Leopard 10.6.3 RAM 1GB Graphic Card NVIDIA GeForce 8 or higher ATI X1600 or higher Intel HD 3000 Others (hardware) Mouse, Keyboard, Internet Connection Table 2.6 Counter-Strike: Source requirement (for Mac) (http://store.steampowered.com/app/240, n.d) Based on the example of game requirement shown above, it clearly shows that different game have its own minimum and recommended requirement in order to play the game smoothly. Games requirement are usually based on previous version of graphic card or processor that already in the market to allow more player to play the games with their current computer. It also shows that different year of published the game may affected the requirement directly. With the example given for different games requirement, it helps the gaming centre to choose the right hardware for the gaming computer. 3.0 Chapter 3 3.1 Topology The topology choose to implement in the gaming centre is star topology. Star topology is one of the most common topology that used in current days. In star topology, every device is connected to a centralized device such as switch, router, or hub via Ethernet cable. This topology arrangement creates a point-to-point network connection between two devices and overall gives the appearance of a star. The reason of implementing the star topology in the gaming centre is the level of flexibility and expandability is high. Multiple star can combine as a hierarchical star and connectivity of the network on one particular computer will not affected other computer that connected to the same network unless the whole centralized device or main cable connected with the modem or router is damaged. Figure 3.1 Star Topology (http://tjliu.myweb.hinet.net/COA_CH_12.htm, n.d) 3.2 Architecture The architecture that suggested implementing in the gaming centre would be client-server architecture. Client-server architecture is referring multiple user computer connect and interact with one or multiple server that connected within same network. This architecture allows multiple users to submit request at the same time, and the server able to react to the request and provide result to user requested accordingly. Server are usually powerful machine due to the workload is heavy and need to be complete within short period of time. The reason of implementing client-server architecture to the gaming centre is due to the resource will be kept in the server that connected to the same network with the users computer. If the gaming centre decides to expand and add more computers to the network, it would be very easy to configure and it wont affect other clients connection with the server. Figure 3.2 Client-server (http://www.javaworld.com/javaworld/jw-10-2001/jw-1019-jxta.html, n.d) 3.3 Internet Service Provider ISP is the companies that provide Internet service to the people by subscribe various packages that give various amount of Mbps and services to the customer. Some ISP also provides modem/router for subscribing their package. The ISP that suggested is TM. Currently TM is promoting high speed broadband called Unifi, these package allow customer to enjoy the speed from minimum 5Mbps up to 20Mbps. For the gaming centre, the BIZ 10 package is sufficient enough for gaming. Below shows some of the key features of the BIZ 10 package:- Download and upload up to 10Mbps 1 fixed IP Unlimited usage 2 online guard plus 2 ishield plus 3.4 Component of Network In earlier part of documentation, it states that a complete network consists of 4 major components. The components are, computer, software, network interface device, and transmission medium. If lacking either one of the components, a network will not complete. 3.4.1 Computer Computers, a component that responsible on dealing with the user and connection, to setup, configure and maintain the network. Gaming centres main objective is to provide good service in terms of game playing satisfaction for customer to gain profit. In customer view, they usually hope to play game without any connection latency problem, or display lagging problem during the game. And also external hardware such as keyboard, mouse, and headphone also must be in good quality to satisfy the customer. In order to achieve the objective, choosing the right hardware for the computer would be important. Due to the computer hardware is updating model and performance frequently, there is impossible for a gaming centre to get a set of latest hardware for computer in the gaming centre, because it is costly. In this case, the computer that installed in the gaming centre would be a customize computer, which means the CPU itself is installed based on buyers need. Therefore, the computer specificat ion for the gaming centre is shown on table below. System Component Device model Operating system Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit CPU Intel Core i5 650 @ 3.20GHz RAM 4GB Graphic Card ATI Radeon HD 5670 DirectX DirectX 11 Table 3.1 Computer Specification In order for gaming centre to keep the important data and information such as finance report or employees profile. It is highly recommended to implement server in the gaming centre. Server also allows gaming centre to store the games that going to play by the customer. Customer able to play any games that already installed in the server of the gaming centre, by choosing and click on the games shortcut inside the computer, customer are able to play the game freely. The model of server recommended to implement in gaming centre is Dell PowerEdge R515 2U Rack Server. It is suitable for storing database, application, email and others file. This model of server consists up to 25TB of internal storage space. And is easy to manage with the help of dell management console, and interactive LCD screen and other features to allow administrator to monitor and maintain the server frequently. This particular operating system support internet connectivity, internal Web sites, remote access, file and printer sharing, backup and restore to secure all the resource that installed in the server. For securing the computer in the gaming centre from virus attack and hacking, the antivirus also required to install. The KasperSky anti-virus 2011 is the latest and suitable to protect the computer in gaming centre. In order to maintain and configure the network easily, the Cisco routers are integrated with Cisco IOS which is an all-in-one network operating system that allow user maintain the network using Cisco IOS Command Line Interface (CLI). With the help of Cisco IOS, administrators can configure, monitor and troubleshoot the system easily. Last but not least, all the games software or client need to installed into the server to allow customer to access. The reason of installing all games client is to save time on install and maintain. When a games encounter a problem, admin can solve it on the server side compare to install in each pc, admin have to solve the same problem over and over again when problem encounter. 3.3.3 Transmission Media The transmission media used for the gaming centre is Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP) and wireless. UTP is the most commonly used media for connecting from device to device in various type of network. It consists of eight individual copper wires and each of the wires are covered by an insulating material and twisted around each other. Upon searching for information regarding UTP (CICSO, 2004) has shown various category of UTP cable. Category 1 Used for telephone communications. Not suitable for transmitting data. Category 2 Capable of transmitting data at speeds up to 4 megabits per second (Mbps). Category 3 Used in 10BASE-T networks. Can transmit data at speeds up to 10 Mbps. Category 4 Used in Token Ring networks. Can transmit data at speeds up to 16 Mbps. Category 5 Can transmit data at speeds up to 100 Mbps. Category 5e Used in networks running at speeds up to 1000 Mbps (1 gigabit per second [Gbps]). Category 6 Typically, Category 6 cable consists of four pairs of 24 American Wire Gauge (AWG) copper wires. Currently the fastest standard for UTP. The reason of having UTP to be implement in the gaming centre is due to the cost for the cable is cheap compare to other type of cables and is easier to install as well. It also can support multiple signals travelling through the same cable. Figure 3.3 Unshielded Twisted Pair cable (http://www.tech-faq.com/utp.html, n.d) 3.4.4 Network Interface Device For network interface device, is the component that act as the middle man in terms of business, it is connected with the users computer, and also Internet to handle data transferring, such as modem, router, switch, hub, and bridges. The device that implement in the gaming centre is modem, router, and switches. Each three device have different usage, modem, allow users to gain access to the internet which usually provided by the Internet Service Provider company upon subscribe the package. Router, to allow more than two users to connected and access to the internet, it also allow users to form a LAN. Switches, allow multiple users to communicate and sharing resource within the network. The router that recommended implementing in the gaming centre is Cisco 2951 Series Integrated Router. This model of routers has the feature shown below:- 3 integrated 10/100/1000 Ethernet ports with 1 port capable of RJ-45 or SFP connectivity 2 service module slots 4 Enhanced High-Speed WAN Interface Card slots 3 onboard digital signal processor (DSP) slots 1 internal service module slot for application services Fully integrated power distribution to modules supporting 802.3af Power over Ethernet (PoE) and Cisco Enhanced PoE Security Onboard hardware acceleration for VPN encryption Secure collaborative communications with Group Encrypted Transport VPN, Dynamic Multipoint VPN, or Enhanced Easy VPN Integrated threat control using Cisco IOS Firewall, Cisco IOS Zone-Based Firewall, Cisco IOS IPS, and Cisco IOS Content Filtering Identity management using authentication, authorization, and accounting (AAA), and public key infrastructure Voice High-density packet voice DSP module, optimized for voice and video support Standards-certified VoiceXML browser services Cisco Unified Border Element capabilities Cisco Unity Express voicemail support. Medical Marijuana

Dustin Flynn Assn# 5 Example/Comparison/Argumentative Inductive TREAT THE SYMPTOMS, NOT THE INJURY For centuries marijuana has been used by the top doctors of their time. And until recently, the past thirty years, the actual physical effects were unknown. Over the past three decades Science and Medicine have been researching what useful and healing effects this herb has, if any. Through my research I have found what I had only thought to be true. Marijuana does have great medicinal use. It is currently being used for an array of illnesses and injuries. But its most effective uses are focused in treating the onsets of AIDS and the symptoms from chemotherapy in the treatment of cancer. Those onsets and symptoms are anxiety, declining appetite, nausea, and general pain. These ailments bare a strong resemblance of the symptoms of Traumatic Brain Injury, or TBI. It is because of these resemblances that I have come to the conclusion that marijuana could be the best treatment for the symptoms associated with TBI. In this article I am going to explain the historical uses of marijuana, the symptoms of TBI, the current treatments for TBI, how marijuana works, and the valued effects that marijuana can provide for persons diagnosed with TBI. As I said before, marijuana has been used for centuries for medicinal use. The first uses are dated back before 4000 BCE, (Before Common Era), as a food source because of its protein and omega 3 content. â€Å"The first recorded medicinal use was in 2737 BCE. Emperor Shen-Nung of China suggested it be used for the treatment of constipation, menstruation cramps, rheumatism, malaria, gout, and absentmindedness. †(Sanna, 18) Now if we look at some of these ailments and diseases and take some of the symptoms that are associated with them. We can see that they are similar to symptoms associated with TBI. Take rheumatism for example, most people associate rheumatism with rheumatoid arthritis or osteoarthritis. But in its most simple diagnosis it is described as general pain and weakness, which is a common symptom with a major diagnosis of TBI. Patients with a major diagnosis can be in, sometimes, constant pain, because the receptors in the brain that regulate pain are damaged due to their TBI. So centuries before things were the way they are now, there was a suitable prescription for one major symptom associated with TBI. Now lets look at absentmindedness, we cannot be sure what the exact definition of this could have been in 2737 BCE. But what we can take from this is that even back then it was acknowledged that marijuana was a suitable prescription for issues concerning the brain. The Emperor was able to see a beneficial change in mood, memory, or thought process. Something made a significant change for him to recommend marijuana. Marijuana became very popular medically in China and eventually made its way to Europe. Around 500 BCE marijuana reached Europe, and with its long reputation as a medicating plant, the Europeans immediately put it into personal testing. â€Å"Doctors of that time separated marijuana into two groups, weedy, and cultivated. †(Sanna 18) The weedy marijuana was best used for curing hard tumors. And the cultivated marijuana was best used for soothing and curing coughs. Now that might seem like a big difference in the severity of symptoms, but the Doctors of that time tested marijuana with almost every ailment and disease that was brought to their attention. Again as before, if we look at one of these symptoms and compare it with symptoms of TBI we can see the benefits. As a patient with any severity of TBI there is a higher risk of developing cancerous and malignant tumors in the brain. â€Å"Doctors and Scientists are unsure of why this is associated with TBI†(Chew 851-878), but their research shows that the risks are there. Marijuana has certain properties called â€Å"Cannabinoids† (Richmond) that actually convince tumors anywhere in the body to commit suicide. The reason this is so beneficial for patients with TBI, patients who are at higher risk of developing tumors in the brain, is because the â€Å"Cannabinoids† in marijuana link up with our bodies own â€Å"Endocannabinoid System†, (Richmond) a system which naturally produces cannabis in our bodies, and fight tumors in the brain. â€Å"Tumors in the brain are the hardest forms of tumors in the body to cure, because they are so hard to treat. (Chew 851-878) It is extremely dangerous for Doctors to operate on the the brain, and normal chemotherapy will usually kill the patient before it kills the tumor due to what is called the â€Å"blood/brain barrier†. (Chew 851-878) â€Å"The blood/brain barrier† is a filter of sorts, the brain has to have whole blood and oxygen to operate properly. The â€Å"blood/brain barr ier† filters out toxins such as the ones used in chemotherapy, and is very selective in what it lets in the brain. The â€Å"Cannabinoids† found in marijuana are able to pass through that â€Å"blood/brain barrier† freely which allows it to do its job and destroy tumors, naturally. Let us skip ahead to around the ninth century. Marijuana has gained popularity as a medicine everywhere east of the Atlantic. And in â€Å"India it was claimed to cure dandruff, Sexually Transmitted Diseases, leprosy, insomnia, and tuberculosis. † (Sanna 18) As far as these ailments and diseases go, insomnia is the one symptom that is shared with patients of TBI. Many patients with any severity of TBI experience insomnia, or other sleeping disorders. Research today supports the Indians theories that marijuana can and does treat insomnia. Now to bring it home, in the United States from 1850 to 1942 marijuana was actually listed in the U. S. Pharmacopeia, which is the list of government approved and recommended drugs for use in treatment of patients. At that time marijuana was stilled called cannabis and was being used in the treatment of labor pains and nausea. But in 1942 the United States Government declared cannabis, (marijuana), a level one narcotic and was made illegal to prescribe, posses, or cultivate. Out of the two ailments that marijuana was being used for at that time, nausea, is a direct symptom of TBI. Patients with any severity of TBI can have chronic nausea brought on by a injured equilibrium. This injury can have the affects of severe motion sickness even when a patient is standing or sitting still. Finally in 2003, â€Å"Canada became the first country in the world to offer medical marijuana to patients† (Sanna 18), initially if was for the treatments of symptoms associated with cancer and AIDS. Since 2003 some states in the United States have followed that example, California being the first, but since medical marijuana is still Federally illegal patients, Doctors, and pharmacies can be arrested, closed, and have their licenses removed. Which makes the freedom of prescribing and receiving medication difficult. â€Å"More than 5. 3 million people, or approximately two percent of the U. S. Population, are living with disabilities resulting from Traumatic Brain Injury. † (Chew 851-878) Here is a list of some of the difficult symptoms, both mentally and physically, that these patients could be facing on a daily basis. Mentally; Attention Deficit Disorder, memory loss, depression, easily agitated, irritability, unprovoked acts of aggression and violence, mania, psychoses, and mood swings. These are just the main mental struggles these patients possibly face suffering from TBI. Physically; Random loss of consciousness, disorientation, headaches, general pain, loss of balance, nausea and vomiting, blurred vision, ringing in the ears, bad taste in the mouth, sensitivity to light and sound, sleeping disorders, seizures, and loss of bladder and bowel control. With all of these symptoms these patients could be facing it is hard to think of the cocktail of medicine that these patients could be forced to take on a daily basis. Currently pharmaceutical companies try only to treat one symptom at a time, it makes for a bigger business and more profits, which leaves the patient, especially in this case, on the long road to recovery. Currently there are over thirty one different drugs being used just to treat the mental symptoms associated with TBI, with no one drug being able to treat multiple symptoms. So that means in most cases these patients are using at least two drugs on a trial basis at any given time, and if there is no change in symptoms they are simply switched to another medication until they achieve satisfactory effects. Just imagine the strain these patients are putting on their livers just to ease the symptoms of a Traumatic Brain Injury. And this is how it is for every patient, Doctors are still unable to come up with what works best for certain symptoms. With that uncertainty, patients become human test subjects, and each Doctor becomes a researcher. And in some cases of mild TBI, the medication that is prescribed has side effects that out weigh the patients initial symptoms. Why would anyone want to take medicine to stop vomiting if the outcome was constipation; and if someone has loss of balance, the medicine prescribed could make them extremely drowsy and have them sleep all day. The world of pharmaceuticals is expensive, representatives from these companies turn Doctors in to salesmen and spokesman. And the outcome is high cost prescriptions that cost the patient and the insurance companies millions of dollars every year, not to mention the huge amount of money that these companies receive from the government every year to research and produce new â€Å"miracle† drugs. Marijuana is made up of over 421 natural chemicals, of which over sixty are Cannabinoids†. (Richmond) Now as I mentioned earlier, we all have what is called a â€Å"Endocannabinoid System†, which regulates the â€Å"Cannabinoids† that are body naturally produces, that is right our bodies produce cannabis. The natural â€Å"Cannabinoids† in our body are used almost like our immune system. When there is something wrong in our bodies an alarm goes off, like when we get a cold, and our immune system rushes in and attacks that bad thing trying to kill it. Our â€Å"Endocannabinoid System† works almost the same way but it is able to fight many bad things at once, while also protecting our good cells, regulating proper brain function, and leveling our anxiety. Our â€Å"Endocannabinoids System† is very advanced, it is mostly gathered in the brain, but it spans through the liver, the bones and the nervous system. There are four main â€Å"Cannabinoids† that Doctors and Scientists have been able to focus on because of there over all medicinal uses. The first and most recognizable is Delta 9-Tetraydrocannabinol or THC. THC is a psychoactive component that mimics and enhances the bodies own Endocannabinoids System† (Richmond); which widely effects mood, appetite, sleep, and good cell protection. So for patients who have been diagnosed with TBI that have appetite loss, sleeping disorders, and mood swings, this component of marijuana can greatly help. The second main â€Å"Cannabinoid† is Cannabidol or CBD. à ¢â‚¬Å"CBD is a non-psychoactive component that enhances the sedative effect† (Richmond), which is good for patients diagnosed with TBI specifically dealing with insomnia. It also is an excellent anti-inflammatory, and bone growth stimulant. It has anti-diabetic and anti-bacterial capabilities, it also has anti-proliferative anti-cancerous capabilities, which means it helps to kill malignant tumors. It is a anti-spasmodic, which fights against muscle spasms and seizures. It is a neuroprotectant that helps regulate pain due to nerve damage, and it is a anti-psychotic, which helps in the fight against schizophrenia, these last three symptoms are directly associated with TBI. The third main â€Å"Cannabinoid† is Tetrahydrocannabivarin or THCV. THCV is a non-psychoactive component† (Richmond) that helps the other main â€Å"Cannabinoids† to be delivered faster, and to the correct spots where the â€Å"Endocannabinoid System† is possibly running low on ammunition. This component could extremely help patients diagnosed with TBI to get the correct â€Å"Cannabinoids† where they are needed quicker. But its downfall can be that if there is to much THCV in the certain strain of marijuana, that the effects of the other â€Å"Cannabinoids† will be short lived. It is also a very effective protective/preventive against type two diabetes. The last main â€Å"Cannabinoid† is Cannabichromene or CBC. â€Å"CBC is a psychoactive component that is a lower strength Cannabinoid† (Richmond) which is a excellent anti-depressant, anti-inflammatory, bone growth stimulant, that strongly prohibits tumor growth in Leukemia and breast cancer. There are few solid arguments against the evidence that has been shown in today's scientific research. The most popular argument about using marijuana medicinally is that when smoked we are actually introducing tar and other cancer causing agents into our body. But research shows that there is absolutely, one hundred percent, no evidence to support the theory of that. In fact it is quite the opposite. Also to help against that argument, there are now ways of ingesting marijuana without smoking it, it can be made into a butter and cooked into everyday foods. It can be made into a spray form that is applied directly under the tongue, and it also comes in a very low dosage pill form which is currently used only for nausea and vomiting associated with cancer and AIDS treatments. Another argument is that there is no way to regulate the dosage on marijuana because there is such a difference between strains of the marijuana plant, someone could overdose. Scientist have proven that if someone was to overdose on marijuana that the initial reaction the body will put off is to just go to sleep, that is it. The patient would just sleep it off as if it were a hangover, minus the headache in the morning. Also the longest possible side effects will last with marijuana is only a few hours, even if there is a overdose situation. In the thousands of recorded years of marijuana use, for recreation or medically, there has not been one recorded death, no one has died just from using marijuana. In fact scientists have come up with what it would take for a person to actually die from smoking marijuana. â€Å"A person would have to smoke 1500 pounds of marijuana in about fifteen minuets, and they would probably die of asphyxiation. † (Richmond) The only other argument that has any solid ground is that, at least in the United States, marijuana is still federally illegal to posses, cultivate, and distribute. And to that argument, the only thing I can say is that it will take the states themselves to stand up and take care of their own people, and provide them with the medicines they need, then eventually the federal government will have to fall in line. In seeing this evidence of marijuana and its scientifically proven medicinal uses, most people can not believe it is true. People cannot believe that there is one drug that is able to treat so many things at once. The truth is that for thousands of years our body has produced this drug on its own, and with the growth of humans not only intellectually but physically, and industrially. We have created a world that has taken our â€Å"Endocannabinoid System† and made it in some cases useless. We are introduced to so many toxins in our food, in our air, and even in our medications that we have not been able to upgrade our â€Å"Endocannabinoid System†, like we have with our immune system ,with the introduction of vaccines and certain pollutants. Thousands of years ago, before we created most of the toxins of today's world, our â€Å"Endocannabinoid System† was perfectly able to combat along with our immune system against most of the ailments and everyday aches and pains. We have not steadily increased our intake of â€Å"Cannabinoids† like we have with other things. We are still operating at a level suitable for life thousands of years ago. With the introduction of marijuana into our bodies we will not only be able to fight against these tough symptoms associated with TBI, but we could possibly be able to prevent and possibly cure diseases like cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoporosis, and many other everyday symptoms that we are all faced with in our life. J. Mind Altering Weed Broomall: Mason Crest, 2008 Print What if Cannabis could Cure Cancer. Dir. Lee Richmond. Lee Richmond Films LLC 2010 Film Medical Marijuana Marijuana is the most commonly used drug in the United States. However, it has singular distinction of being both a commonly used illegal substance and also a legally prescribed medical substance. Marijuana will always be used for private reasons or for medical purposes. Isn’t it a good thing that children not even four years of age are offered medical marijuana to cure diseases such as epilepsy? Seth Ammerman and Courtney Williams are writers for New’s Digital weekly. These articles were published in December of 2012. Courtney and Seth state their point of view about medical marijuana.Should medical marijuana be prescribed to children? People who are against medical marijuana say that there is not enough scientific research to support prescribing cannabis. Medical Marijuana is only legalized in some states because everyone has their own right to state their own opinion. Not every state agrees. In every cannabis plant there are cannabinoids, which are the THC and CBD ch emicals. THC is the chemical that drug cartels use illegally. Cannabidol is the chemical that is put into medical marijuana. Most dispensaries do not get tested for there cannabinoid content. The chemical is usually unknown. One of the major issues to prescribing a child medical marijuana is the cause of addiction. Marijuana can alter the brain into wanting the drug all the time. The younger a child starts to use cannabis, the child may never want to stop. (Ammerman 2) Of course there are side effects that may give you a negative feeling about using medical marijuana, such as anxiety, paranoia, and depression. While some people say what if. There are others who take a risk and take a chance. Parents who have chosen cannabis to treat their child have raised their eyebrows.A two year old had to go through 39 hours of surgery, while under anesthesia for 42 days. The doctor sent the child home on hospice and morphine. The child’s pediatrician suggested cannabis. The two year old i s now alive and free of cancer. (Williams 2) Marijuana contains of Vitamin C and Vitamin D. Vitamin F is also found in medical marijuana that contains a cannabinoid acid, which allows the cells in your brain to treat the disorder. (Williams 2) In my own opinion, I’m for medical cannabis. Children can always stop themselves from becoming addicted if they use the drug correctly and they do not abuse it.There are millions of people today using cannabis as medicine. While children are throwing a million and one pills down their throat and nothing is working. You can never doubt medical marijuana. Medical marijuana will be able to cure anything. Should medical marijuana be prescribed to children? Yes, it should. Medical marijuana is a touchy subject. There may not be enough scientific evidence, but who needs evidence when there is proof. All you have to do is take one look at a child who is free of cancer from using medical marijuana. That child is the proof.
